Unknown Brian is riding his Big Wheel down the street and hits the curb, scraping his knee, allowing Bacterial Endocarditus to set in. About two weeks later, he slips and falls on the concrete, prompting his parents to take him to the hospital lest he has a concussion. He is hospitalized for the next two months and is given a zero percent chance of survival.

Unknown The Richardson family move to the Cathedral Domain when Jerald Richardson takes up the post of manager. Kevin would live there for the next nine years.

Unknown AJ lands the supporting role in the Nickelodeon sitcom Hi Honey I'm Home four months after moving to Orlando. He is later replaced by the producer's nephew for unknown reasons (AJ says it is because he was too tall). He is also cast in the show Welcome Freshmen.

Unknown Kevin decides to leave Kentucky with his best friend Jimmy and moves to Orlando after Ann Richardson suggests that he go to Florida. Jerald Richardson also encourages him to do so. They both get jobs at Disney World.

Unknown The Richardson family enjoy their last holiday together when they go down to visit Kevin in Orlando.

Unknown Jerald Richardson is diagnosed with cancer. His parents decide not to tell Kevin for the time being.

Unknown AJ is hired for a Latin talent festival. He has to devise a 45 minute one-man show which he would perform every few hours over the course of the festival. Tony Donetti comes by the show a few times. He is performing at another part of the festival with a partner, performing a dance routine using mostly Latin-style music. AJ recalls that he remembers Tony from his singing classes and a couple of auditions at the Nickelodeon studios. AJ ends up winning the talent contest and $1000. Tony Donetti finishes second and congratulates AJ on his winning performance.

Unknown Brian starts work at Long John Silver's. He works there for 1 1/2 years.

March An ad is put into the "Orlando Sentinel" and "Florida Blue Sheet", seeking young vocalists.

March Denise reads the ad in the local trade paper calling for young men between the ages of twelve and eighteen for a five-member vocal group.

March After the disappointing response to the ad, Pearlman's assistant seeks help in the Civil Theater's artist archive and invites AJ and Tony Donetti to try out for the new group. AJ sings a New Kids song, Tony sings "Unchained Melody".

March AJ auditions for Lou Pearlman at his house.

April AJ becomes the first member of the group.

02 July Nick performs at the Florida State Fair, singing "Runaround Sue", "The Rhythm of My Heart", "More Today Than Yesterday", "God Bless the USA", "Breakin' Up is Hard to Do" and "I'm Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody".

22 August Howie's 19th birthday.

September Nick enters Adams Middle School (7th grade).

September AJ enters Osceola High School (9th grade).

September Gloria, Pearlman's assistant in charge of the ongoing talent search starts a new job and leaves her successor (Jean Tanzy) without contact information on "Tony Donetti", which results in Pearlman being unable to get a hold of him for the time being. More ads are placed in Orlando's papers.

03 October Kevin's 21st birthday. He celebrates his birthday with Kristin.

October Nick auditions for the Mickey Mouse Club.

October Nick sings in one of the auditions. But although Lou is convinced of his talent, he at first decide against him, because Jane Carter tells him Nick had been offered to do the Mickey Mouse Club and she'd rather have him do that so he can go to a regular school. But a week later one of the other boys choosen refuse the offer and Nick joins the group. The same audition day Howie shows up unexpectedly and is greeted with a chorus of "Hey, Donetti, we have been looking for you!"

Unknown Brian performs the role of Roger in his high school musical - Grease.

December AJ is pulled out of high school to be tutored on the road as his school isn't willing to cooperate.


1993

» JANUARY

09 The 6 guys (Nick, AJ, Damon, Burk, Howie & Sam) chosen meet up for the first time on AJ's 15th birthday. Lou Pearlman had originally chosen an additional member, David, but chose Damon over him.

28 Nick's 13th birthday.


» FEBRUARY

xx Damon quits over an argument when he found out he could not perform in the first show (he had been chosen as an alternate). Burk also leaves for unknown reasons.

xx Charles Edwards joins the group.

20 Brian's 18th birthday.


» MARCH

xx Licata and Edwards leave the group. Sam is more interested in a career as a solo artist and leaves after a flare up over Sam not wanting them to sing a song he wrote. Charles leaves due to difficulties with his voice and scars on his chest. AJ, Nick, and Howie want to keep the group as it is, the three of them, but their managers thought that two more members were needed to make the group and harmony whole.

03 Kevin meets up with Johnny Wright in response to (again) an ad in the paper and joins the group.


» APRIL

19 At 2 p.m., 18-year-old Brian Littrell is called away from his American History class to answer an urgent phone call. His cousin Kevin asks him to audition for the pop group. At 9 pm, Brian auditions over the phone. He finds himself on a flight to Orlando at 6 a.m. the next day.

20 The first meeting of the five Backstreet Boys is held in Orlando.


» MAY

06 The Boys shoot promotional videos at WKMG Local 6 studios in Orlando - "Loverboy", "Tell Me That I'm Dreaming" and "Get Ready". Filming started at 10am and ended at around 5:30pm.

08 The Boys perform at their first concert ever at Sea World, Orlando to a crowd of 3000.


» JUNE

xx During the Summer, the Boys take it upon themselves to perform together as much as possible: at clubs, stores, anywhere, including a high-profile gala AIDS charity for the Ronald McDonald House hosted by Whitney Houston in Fort Lauderdale.

22 Howie's 20th birthday.

xx In the Fall with a change in management, the Boys tour schools across the States from Florida to Ohio, building a fan base while trying to negotiate a recording deal.

22 The Boys perform at Roland Park Middle School, as part of the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Tour.

xx The Boys meet Randy Jones for the first time. He would become a long time bodyguard.

xx The Boys perform at another Sea World Grad Night show, this time as headliners.


» AUGUST

13 The Boys sing their first nationally televised anthem during a Predators football game in Tampa. It was never shown on television as the game was blacked out.

22 Howie's 21st birthday.


» SEPTEMBER

xx The Boys are put on yet another cross-country school tour, backed by Macy's. The have many problems with the sound system, causing them to perform acapella many a time. The schools visited includes Brian's alma mater, Tates Creek High School. The visit is covered by local news.

xx The Boys have their coming-out party in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

31 The Backstreet Boys begin their first radio promotional tour in Miami.


» SEPTEMBER

25 "We've Got it Goin' On" is released in the United States and doesn't do well, reaching only #69 on Billboard's Singles chart. This results in the cancellation of all future plans of touring in the U.S. The Boys turn their attention to Europe.

25 "We've Got it Goin' On" released in Europe and shoots up the charts, climbing to the Top 10 in Germany.


» OCTOBER

03 Kevin's 24th birthday.

09 The first day of the Boys' European tour in England. They meet photographer Andre Csillag, who would become a lifelong friend, for the first time.

14 The Boys perform at Pop-Explosion in Nuremburg, where the event is organized by the German magazine Popcorn.

28 The Boys do promotion in Dortmund.

30 The Boys go to one of the largest radio stations in Berlin, where more than 50 girls greet them upon arrival.

31 Kevin undergoes an emergency appendectomy in Hamburg and spends the following four days in hospital. Meanwhile, the other guys proceed with interviews and shows in Munich.


» NOVEMBER

xx The first version of the "I'll Never Break Your Heart Video" (the snow version) is filmed in the Rocky Mountains.

xx The Boys have performances at two indoor cycling tracks in Germany.

xx From November to December, the Boys embark on a short tour opening for the British duo PJ and Duncan on their Christmas Cracker tour. They then embark on their first European tour, performing in the Smash Hits Tour in 17 English cities before joining back up with PJ and Duncan for the second leg of the tour.
